DESIGN INTENT

The intent of this project was to design a child-centric school that remains rooted in its rural context while fostering strong spatial connectivity. The site, defined by natural contours, was approached with minimal intervention, allowing the terrain to guide the design and be translated into a series of indirect, stepped plinths.
The central idea is connection through plinths, creating a continuous and interactive ground plane that links all spaces across the campus. The design ensures that all areas are interconnected, allowing seamless movement throughout the school—even during the rainy season—by transitioning from one covered or semi-covered space to another. At the same time, each space is provided with an independent entry, maintaining flexibility in access and use.
The architectural language draws from the village context, using familiar forms and scales so the school reads as an extension of its surroundings. The result is a context-responsive, connected, and climate-sensitive learning environment shaped by both landscape and community.
